Hub 17 : Rights and freedoms: on the social construction of diversity

Partenariat

The Commission des droits et libertés de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse is envisaging conducting a survey on the perception that people in Québec have of fundamental rights. Similar surveys have been conducted in France under the aegis of the Commission nationale consultative des droits de l’homme and in the United States through the initiative of a consortium of non-governmental organizations dedicated to promoting fundamental rights. In accordance with a conception inspired by the social and legal context in Québec, a survey on people’s perceptions of fundamental rights will be based on a perspective of human rights and freedoms defined as expressions of civic culture in contemporary democracies.
